Preparing Your Work for the Gallery
A strong submission starts long before you send it. The images that work best in our mosaic grids are the ones that tell a story on their own, even at thumbnail size. Before choosing what to share, look through your set and pick a tight sequence rather than every frame you shot. Ten carefully chosen photographs from an audio launch, a temple festival or a street procession usually say more than fifty near-duplicates.
Technical points worth checking
- Exposure and colour: stage lighting at film events and the strong afternoon sun in Chennai can both push skin tones too warm or too harsh. A light, honest edit is better than heavy filters.
- Sharpness: check faces and eyes at full size. Soft focus is easy to miss on a phone screen.
- Orientation mix: grids look livelier with a blend of portrait and landscape frames, so include both where you can.
- File names and metadata: keep the original capture details intact and name files clearly so captions can be matched correctly.
Respecting people and places
Cultural and religious events deserve care. Some temples restrict photography in inner areas, and families at weddings or private functions may not want their pictures published. Ask permission when photographing individuals up close, follow the rules of each venue, and only submit images you have the right to share. For cinema stills, make sure you are not sending promotional material owned by a production house unless you have clear permission to use it.
Writing useful captions
A good caption answers the basics: what is happening, where, and roughly when. Mention the neighbourhood or venue, the occasion, and anything a viewer might not notice at first glance, such as the significance of a ritual or the craft behind a costume. Keep it factual and avoid guessing names you are unsure of.
To get a feel for the style we look for, browse the gallery and the latest event albums. When your set is ready, reach out through the contact page with a short introduction and a few sample images.
